Antique tea caddy, c. 1800, George III, 3inner containers to fit the octagonal form and decorated with a compass rose

This octagonal tea caddy features three brass inner containers shaped to fit its form. Each inner container has a slip-on lid decorated with a compass rose. The base has a rough, irregular surface, suggesting that the wood was sawn by hand. The irregularly worked hinge strips also indicate that it is handcrafted. In other words, this is a tea caddy from the George III period.
Condition: In good condition considering its great age; there are age-related signs of wear and patina on the inner containers. A screw is missing from one of the hinge strips; we have not replaced it as we did not have a suitable screw from the period. No key is available, so the functionality of the lock cannot be tested.
