Art Nouveau writing box with key and working lock, c. 1900

This writing box, dating from the period 1890–1910, features a removable base in the compartment for writing implements (next to the inkwell compartment); the front section of the hinged writing surface can be lifted to reveal a second separate compartment for writing paper etc. The Art Nouveau ornaments are cut from sheet metal, lacquered and nailed on. The box comes with a glass and brass inkwell; unfortunately, this is not the original inkwell, but it fits perfectly in the inkwell compartment in terms of both length and width. The box can be locked using the original key and the lock, which is in perfect working order. All in all, a complete Art Nouveau writing box.
Condition: Good condition: all hinges are secure and undamaged; the lock and key are in working order. Signs of wear due to age, but no major damage (see photos)
