  • Details
This candlestick was manufactured between 1890 and 1894. In 1890, Engelbert Kayser had taken over the arts and crafts department, and Art Nouveau began to influence the designs. This ultimately led to the well-known Kayserzinn 4000 series, which began production in 1894. This model displays a blend of styles, featuring early Art Nouveau elements. The mark, featuring an eagle above the ‘Kayser’ inscription and the number 29, also dates it to this period.
Condition: In good condition for a piece around 130 years old, but pewter alloys must be handled with care. The candlestick appears to have been dropped at some point, resulting in slight bending of one arm and the corresponding spout. A friend of mine who is an artist working with metal has carefully straightened the arm, so one has to look very closely to spot the ‘damage’.
Dimensions: Height 43 cm, width 31 cm, depth 10 cm (base)
