The lid of this pill box from 1817 is made of mother-of-pearl, which is decorated with very fine engravings and decorative glass stones. The box is made of 833 silver and is hallmarked. The hallmarks indicate the year 1817 and manufacture in Gouda, Netherlands (Minerva head with R), shortly after the end of French rule and the beginning of the constitutional monarchy. A very fine piece of work, more than 200 years old. Condition: Patina and signs of wear appropriate for its age, but no major damage, lid hinge works perfectly.
